Description
Le Bambole Mario Bellini armchair for B&B Italia in 1970. The project represents one of the icons of Italian design of the second half of the twentieth century, awarded for its typological innovation and for the introduction of an upholstered system without a visible rigid structure. Upholstered in brown leather, the elements stand out for their soft and continuous volumes, which define a welcoming and sculptural shape. The leather upholstery emphasizes the materiality of the surfaces and gives the set a sober and elegant character, in line with Bellini’s research on comfort and naturalness of shapes.
The “Le Bambole” model is considered a turning point in the history of upholstered furniture, an expression of B&B Italia’s technological and formal experimentation in the seventies.
Very good general condition, with patina and signs of aging compatible with age and use. Provenance: private collection.
