Description
Set of 2 Pileino Gae Aulenti lamps for Artemide (1960). The project reflects the initial phase of the author’s research on the relationship between elementary geometry and light function, translating an idea of an essential and autonomous object into a compact form. The lamp stands out for its simple and rigorous composition, in which the lighting fixture is defined by primary volumes and measured proportions. The whole restores a balance between plastic presence and functionality, typical of Italian design of the Sixties. A significant example of Gae Aulenti’s production in the field of lighting, the Pileino model retains a strong modernity and versatility of use.
Good general condition, with signs of aging compatible with age and use. Provenance: private collection.
